[HFe(CO)4 – A Versatile Reagent toward Dichlorophosphines,Phosphenium Salts,Phospha-alkenes and Diphosphenes

Abstract

A new entry to non classical phosphorus complexes is reported.     

Ultra-stable microwave generation with a diode-pumped solid-state laser in the 1.5-μm range

We demonstrate the first ultra-stable microwave generation based on a 1.5-μm diode-pumped solid-state laser (DPSSL) frequency comb. Our system relies on optical-to-microwave frequency division from a planar-waveguide external cavity laser referenced to an ultra-stable Fabry–Perot cavity. The evaluation of the microwave signal at ~10 GHz uses the transportable ultra-low-instability signal source ULISS^®, which employs a cryo-cooled sapphire oscillator. With the DPSSL comb, we measured ?125 dBc/Hz phase noise at 1 kHz offset frequency, likely limited by the photo-detection shot-noise or by the noise floor of the reference cryo-cooled sapphire oscillator. For comparison, we also generated low-noise microwave using a commercial Er:fiber comb stabilized in similar conditions and observed >20 dB lower phase noise in the microwave generated from the DPSSL comb. Our results confirm the high potential of the DPSSL technology for low-noise comb applications.     

Potent Anticancer Efficacy of First-In-Class CuII and AuIII Metaled Phosphorus Dendrons with Distinct Cell Death Pathways

First-in-class Cu^II and Au^III metaled phosphorus dendrons were synthesized and showed significant antiproliferative activity against several aggressive breast cancer cell lines. The data suggest that the cytotoxicity increases with reducing length of the alkyl chains, whereas the replacement of Cu^II with Au^III considerably increases the antiproliferative activity of metaled phosphorus dendrons. Very interestingly, we found that the cell death pathway is related to the nature of the metal complexed by the plain dendrons. Cu^II metaled dendrons showed a potent caspase-independent cell death pathway, whereas Au^III metaled dendrons displayed a caspase-dependent apoptotic pathway. The complexation of plain dendrons with Au^III increased the cellular lethality versus dendrons with Cu^II and promoted the translocation of Bax into the mitochondria and the release of Cytochrome C (Cyto C).     

New Chiral Ortho-P,S-Difunctionalized Aromatic Compounds

Abstract

A new method to prepare enantioenriched sulfinates was developed to obtain optically active ortho-methylsulfinyl(phenylphosphonates). It consists of a diastereoselective oxidation of sulfenates to sulfinates. Additionally, preliminary results concerning the synthesis of ortho-phophonylated benzylic thiol derivatives via a new P═S to P═C [1,4]-rearrangement and a first synthetic application of these compounds are also described.     

Etude Des Propriétés Physico-Chimiques De ZnRb 4 (P 3 O 9 ) 2 ·6H 2 O

The dehydration of ZnRb 4 (P 3 O 9 ) 2 ·;6H 2 O was investigated, between 25 and 600°;C, by TG-DTA, X-ray diffraction, IR. It leads, between 300 and 500°;C, to a mixture of long chain polyphosphates RbPO 3 and ZnRb 2 (PO 3 ) 4 which stays stable until its melting point. The IR (1400-30 cm m 1 ) and Raman spectra (1400-100 cm m 1 ) of ZnRb 4 (P 3 O 9 ) 2 ·;6H 2 O are reported and assignments of fundamental modes proposed and compared with theoretical results obtained via the MNDO method for P 3 O 9 ring with C s symmetry. (La déshydratation, sous pression atmosphérique, du cyclotriphosphate ZnRb 4 (P 3 O 9 ) 2 ·;6H 2 O, a ét´;e effectuée, entre 25 and 600°;C, par spectrométrie IR, diffraction des rayons X, ATG et ATD. Elle conduit, entre 300 and 500°;C, au mélange de polyphosphates RbPO 3 et ZnRb 2 (PO 3 ) 4 qui reste stable jusqu'à la fusion. Les spectres vibrationnels IR (1400-30 cm m 1 ) et Raman (1400-100 cm m 1 ) du sel étudié ont été interprétés dans le domaine des vibrations de valence et de déformation du cycle P 3 O 9 et comparés avec les résultats des calculs théoriques par la méthode MNDO pour un cycle isolé de symétrie C s .)     

Stereoselective Cycloaddition of Monosubstituted Ketene to a Methyl Glyoxylate- and Threonine-Derived Imine: Synthesis of Optically Pure β-Lactamic α-Amino Ester with High Functionality

The reaction of chloroacetyl chloride and triethylamine with a chiral imine derived from the combination of methyl glyoxylate and protected L-threonine gave two optically active α-amino acid derivatives with a cis-substituted β-lactam skeleton in a 72:28 ratio. The major product is obtained in 59% yield by simple crystallisation.     

Acid-Catalyzed E-Ring Expansion and Isomerization of 3-Acetylbetulin: Synthesis of Cytotoxic Anhydrobetulin Saponins

22(17 → 28)abeo-Lupene derivatives 5a and 6a were obtained after the acid-catalyzed E-ring expansion of 3-acetylbetulin (1a). Glycosylation of these dehydrated triterpenoids using Schmidt's trichloroacetimidate sugar donors in the presence of trimethylsilyl trifluoromethanesulfonate (TMSOTf) provided the new anhydrobetulin saponins 7b–7e in which the terminal olefin C-20(29) isomerizes to form a C-19 tetrasubstituted alkene. The preliminary cytotoxic evaluation revealed that saponins 7b–7d exhibited a moderate cytotoxic activity against A549, DLD-1, and WS1 human cell lines with IC₅₀ ranging from 22 to 49 μM.     

Classical dynamics of the Bianchi IX model with timelike singularity

We study the dynamics of the vacuum Bianchi IX model with timelike singularity and compare it with the dynamics of the Bianchi IX model with cosmological singularity. We show that differences in the signs of some terms in the set of equations specifying the dynamics of both spacetimes lead to significant differences in their properties.
